Good News

Dear Reader,

All the stories I tell you here on this blog have one common theme: the glory of Jesus Christ. There is no one who compares with Him. And there is no life like the new life He offers you. Have you ever accepted His offer? If you have not, let me show you how you can.

Man at the Cross

God’s word explains why you sense you need Him. He is reaching out in love to you, because He sees your desperate situation. Your sin has separated you from Him.

“For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rom 3:23)

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Death is not what God wants for you. But you can never do enough good deeds to erase the fact that you’ve sinned. So God paid for your sins Himself, when He sent His holy Son Jesus to die on the cross. When Jesus rose from the dead, He proved that He had defeated death. By putting your faith in Jesus, you can accept His sacrifice for you, be cleansed from all your sins, and receive a new life through Him.

“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)

All you need to do is ask Him to save you.

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

“…if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9, 10)

If you are looking for the words to say to God to ask for His forgiveness and salvation, here is a prayer you can use as a model:

“Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner like every other human being on earth. Please forgive me for my sins. Thank You for dying in my place, so that I could be saved from the penalty I deserve. Thank You for loving me so much. I believe Your promise that I am now saved, and that you see me as a child of God. I want to live for you, from now on. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so I can live this new life You’ve given me. Thank You for this amazing gift!”

If you have just prayed to ask Jesus to save you, then welcome into God’s family! Your old sinful life no longer controls you. Now you can live in constant fellowship with God your Father. The Bible says,

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (II Corinthians 5:17)

“…now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:13)

Like a young child, it is important that you keep growing in your new life. Several things can help you grow:

  • Read God’s Word, the Bible.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
  • Find a church to grow in. A vital, Bible-believing church is part of Christ’s body on the earth. Jesus established the church  “… so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12,13)
  • Be baptized. This is how we show we are identified with Christ. “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:4)
  • Tell others what you’ve found in Jesus. “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32)

There are those who would prefer I not say these things here. But why would I want to hide from you the way to joy and peace through my Lord Jesus Christ?

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…” (Romans 1:16)

May the Lord bless you and keep you close to His side as you walk with Him.

Your sister in Christ,

Karen Ingle
